The Club marked its 40th anniversary this year, by holding a casino evening at Goring and Streatley Golf Club on Saturday 15th October.
Over 80 members, past members and friends celebrated in fine style, with a mixture of rampant nostalgia, and keen gambling with some dodgy dollars.
It was good to see some of the original founder members there, as well as the past members who were responsible for several years of promotion through the Oxfordshire and Berkshire leagues. Their efforts formed the foundation for the first division tennis now rightly enjoyed by both our men’s and ladies teams.
Eight teams took part in the casino team event, and without any sleight of hand, the Chairman’s team Hatties Hustlers just beat the Butchers Tennis Tourists and Team Sorry (so-called because of frequent unforced errors) into second and third place.
The individual gambler’s prize went to a guest Damian Lane, with Christine Godding an excited runner up.
